BUBU Studio is where materials meet ideas — a place where craft becomes expression and experimentation is the only method we trust.
We work across different materials, methods and media, always driven by the question: what happens if we try this? Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Both are fine.
Founded by Alizay and Jan, BUBU Studio grew out of a shared love for making things with your hands and the belief that creativity is better when it's shared.

The people behind BUBU
Meet Alizay & Jan
Alizay's world is colour, texture, and layered expression. With a background in art and painting, she brings a painter's eye to everything BUBU Studio touches — the sensitivity to materials, the instinct for composition, and the courage to make something that hasn't existed before. She's the one who first picks up a material and asks: what else can this do?
Jan comes from the world of marketing and design, where he spent years shaping brand identities and visual strategies. As Creative Director of BUBU Studio, he brings intentionality and a bold aesthetic to every project — always pushing for work that feels both considered and alive. He's the one who turns an idea into a system.
How it all started
We came across tufting during one of the quietest, strangest periods any of us had known. It turned out to be exactly what we needed — something physical, something meditative, something that produced something real at the end of a session.
The tufting gun became a kind of anchor. It got us through difficult times and kept pulling us back to the studio with genuine excitement. There's something almost magical about the moment a sketch on cloth becomes a rug in your hands.
We're social people. We love being around others, we love sharing what we know, and we believe this craft deserves more people doing it. That's why we run workshops — and why every class still feels like something we genuinely look forward to, every single time.
